Learn How To Setup Windows vCentre 6.5 Version For vSphere
Overview-
vCenter server is installed on Windows Server or could be an appliance. VMware vCenter is software for managing vSphere environment.
VMware has released the vSphere 6.5 version with newer version of vCenter for management.
vCenter comes in two versions:
1.) Software to be deployed on a Windows Server (physical or virtual).
2.) Virtual appliance that is based on Linux (vCenter Server Appliance: VCSA).
Hardware Requirement-
Windows vCenter Server with embedded PSC requires the following hardware.
- Tiny (up to 10 hosts, 100 VMs) – 2 CPUs, 10 GB RAM.
- Small (up to 100 hosts, 1000 VMs) – 4 CPUs, 16 GB RAM.
- Medium (up to 400 hosts, 4000 VMs) – 8 CPUs, 24 GB RAM.
- Large (up to 1000 hosts, 10,000 VMs) – 16 CPUs, 32 GB RAM.
- X-Large (up to 2000 hosts, 35,000 VMs) – 24 CPUs, 48 GB RAM – new to v6.5.
Installation Method-
Download the latest VMware vCenter Server and Modules for Windows ISO from VMware.
i . Mount the ISO and launch autorun.exe with option Run as administrator. Once VMware vCenter Installer opens, make sure vCenter Server for Windows is selected, then click Install.

ii. Click Next.

iii. Tick on, I accept the terms of the license agreement, Next.

iv. Our deployment is an embedded deployment model.

v. Put the FQDN (fully-qualified domain name) in System Name, click Next.

vi. Create a new Single Sign-On domain, If you are creating Single Sign-on domain without current Active Directory. Configure administrator account, a password for Single Sign-On and a vCenter site name, click Next.

vii. Select vCenter services as the local system account or may enter credentials of a service account, created earlier and click Next.

viii. Select an embedded Postgre database or select DSN for an external database, click Next.

ix. For basic users, accept the default port configuration and click Next.

x. Choose the directory to install vCenter services and click Next.

xi. Tick or untick the VMware Customer Experience Improvement Program as suitable and click Next.

xii. Before proceeding, finally verify the configuration on review page and click Install to begin the installation process.

xiii. Click Finish once installation is completed.
